Most dollers have at some point seen the familiar teeth marks of the gifmonster. To those who are new at this, the gifmonster is what we call it when we convert our dolls into gifs, and because gif only have so many colours to show, the colours get replaced by another or flattened. In other words, eaten away. Some things can handle it, other can’t. Usually the first to suffer is the face if it’s smudged. It just looks wrong.
This is my new revised full doll tutorial. The previous one was getting a bit old and I’ve learned a few more tricks, and also I found it a bit cluttered. So I wished to construct my tutorial better. First, I will go through terms, effects and techniques I find relevant for my way of dolling. Also, i'll add my usuall settings. I’m using Adobe 7 for this. The small icons with a black corner means that it's interchangeable. Click and hold on the icon in adobe, and several alternatives will pop up.
It is what I call a 'pixel package'. This one is a work in progress because I have a lot more I am planning to do. They are basically references that can be used during pixeling that include pallettes, skin tones, some examples of clothing, eye colors, etc.
In this tutorial, I'll be teaching you how to pixel a full doll! I pixel shade, so this tutorial can be used for any paint program, although I use MS Paint, cos it's simple and easy to use, although this tutorial can easily be translated into PSP, or Photoshop etc.
Site is in Frames. Has tutorials (listed under the "Visitor" menu) for gradient pixel shading, using a color-replacer tool like found in Paint Shop Pro. Also has pixel shading tutorials for jeans and boots.
